SicilianMagpie

SicilianMagpie is born from the idea of wanting to create a showcase to Sicily, trying to enhance its beauties form different points of view. SicilianMagpie would like to become a reference portal for our island and for all those who may be interested in knowing it better.

The project is complex and presumptuosin, as it woul enclose different aspects ranging from: Architecture, art, tradition, culture, gastronomic tradition, crafts, typical products and everything that madkes Sicily a different place from all others.

Sicily has very ancient origins and, in an almost unique was, has suffered a huge number of external influences: Greeks, Phoenicians, Romans, Vandals, Ostrogoths, Byzantines, Islamic, Normans, Spaniards, Austrians, Bourbons and if you also want to consider mercenaries who participated in the internal wars, then settling on the island, we can understand how Sicily and the Sicilians of today, are the result of the greatest cultural and genetic shake in history.
